Diagnosis is an important first step in creating an effective treatment plan for women with PCOS symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, and excessive hair growth. At your consultation with Dr Rinku, we take a detailed and structured approach to provide expert diagnosis through a thorough assessment.
Your assessment may include:
- A full review of your symptoms, menstrual history, and medical history
- Discussion of lifestyle, weight changes, and overall health
- Blood tests to assess hormone levels as part of diagnosis and treatment
- Metabolic markers such as insulin and glucose to support reproductive health
- Ultrasound scan arranged (if clinically appropriate) to help assess polycystic ovarian syndrome, look for polycystic ovaries, and check for ovarian cysts; if needed, we will advise whether attending with a full bladder may improve imaging for suspected ovarian syndrome
We aim to provide clarity and reassurance, helping you understand what is happening in your body and why, while supporting early diagnosis. Not everyone will experience all symptoms, and some patients develop other symptoms while others have more severe symptoms.
